Executive President


A distinguished healthcare leader, Her Excellency Dr. Fatma Mohammed Al Ajmi is the Executive President of the Oman Medical Specialty Board. Her journey in healthcare administration is truly remarkable, characterized by a steadfast commitment to improving healthcare services in Oman. Her appointment as the Executive President of the Oman Medical Specialty Board under the Royal Decree 12/2024, reflects her exceptional leadership qualities, hence the trust placed upon her by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.  

H.E. Dr. Fatma held various pivotal roles in shaping the healthcare landscape of Oman. Her tenure as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative, Financial, and Planning Affairs showcased her ability to drive strategic initiatives.  She advocated for the financial sustainability of the Ministry of Health through the Spending Efficiency Initiative project, ensuring the financial sustainability of the healthcare sector. Dr. Fatma spearheaded several infrastructure projects, implemented plans aimed at streamlining operations and improving the competence of the administrative system.  Furthermore, she effectively re-engineered the department procedures making it more operational and relevant. Her illustrious career has consistently demonstrated a keen focus on enhancing efficiency of healthcare professionals, fostering human development, and establishing strong partnerships both local and international health organizations.  

Dr. Fatma's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly as the Director General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate for more than a decade, highlighted her resilience and capability in managing healthcare crises.  Her dedication to improving maternal and child health, evidenced during her term as the Head of the Woman and Child Department at the Ministry of Health, reflects her deep-rooted commitment to serving the community.

Moreover, Dr. Fatma's academic achievements, including a Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and participation in esteemed programs in public policy, planning, and leadership, underscore her commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.

The recognition bestowed upon her with the Royal Commendation Medal, Second Class, is a testament to her outstanding contributions to the healthcare sector and serves as a source of inspiration for positive change within Oman's healthcare system. Dr. Fatma's current leadership in OMSB, continuously shape the future of healthcare in Oman, ensuring that it remains responsive, efficient, and compassionate.
