Providing state of the art professional training in the field of Dermatology and its subspecialties in order to produce skilled, competent, and knowledgeable dermatologist who can perform duties safely and effectively with essential responsibilities and attitudes. The trained professional should attain capabilities to be a leader in training the future generation.

To produce a competent knowledgeable dermatologist capable of functioning independently after successfully completing an approved educational program and an evaluation, including an examination process designed to assess the competencies; Medical Knowledge, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, Practice Based Learning and Improvement, System Based Practice and Patient Care. These competencies are incorporated into Dermatology Residency Training Program. All Residents will be evaluated based on these competencies to provide high quality care in Dermatology. To provide an educating environment that will promote high quality education in both knowledge and practical skills and in addition, to achieve a trend towards medical research.

Upon satisfactory completion of residency training in Dermatology, the doctor will be competent to undertake comprehensive medical practice in that specialty in a professional manner, unsupervised and independently and/or within a team, in keeping with the needs of the healthcare system. Duration of the Residency Training Program 4-year Residency Training Clinical Rotations 1st Year Residency consists of General Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Clinical Genetics, Infectious Disease, Emergency Meidcine and others. 2nd-4th Year Resident include extensive training in General Dermatology as well as subspecialties like Dermatosurgery & Laser, Subspecialties I and II (Phototherapy, Contact Dermatitis, Psoriasis, Genodermatosis and Blistering Diseases, Pediatric Dermatology) Dermatopathology, Advanced Dermatosurgery and others. Progression Criteria:

The promotion of the resident from next residency level should be determined by:

Passed the End of Year Examination.

Achieved satisfactory overall evaluations and clinical performance on all rotation blocks.

Passed the OMSB Part I to be able to be promoted to R4 residency level.

Examinations:

End of Year Examination

   Progression to next residency level

   Residents who failed the exam must take the re-sit exam.

   Residents who failed the re-sit exam is not eligible to progress to another residency year level.

OMSB Part I Examination

 To be given to the residents during R2 level.

 Must pass the exam in order to be promoted to R4 level.

 Certicate of Completion of Training to be given once passed.      

OMSB Part II Examination

Specialty Certificate exam

Optional Examinations: Arab Board I and II (written and clinical) and other International Examinations.
