The Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) which is the postgraduate medical training body in Oman aims to achieve excellence in medical education, research and patients care by establishing Medical Simulation Center (MSC). The Center has combine training techniques from high-risk specialties in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care and Surgical Specialties with the latest medical simulation technologies. Its main purpose is to fully integrate clinical simulation into the residency training programs of Oman Medical Specialty Board to enhance the practical aspects of their training and also to provide the next generation doctors and other health allied professional’s hands-on-training procedures in difficult and potentially dangerous conditions without any risk to patients. The Medical Simulation Center as a whole is comprised of mock clinical settings. It is made to replicate the same environment that clinicians practice in at the hospital. The Center uses state-of-the-art computer enhanced simulated patient mannequins. It also provides each participant an authentic experience within their designed discipline. It was designed to be a flexible environment to accommodate multiple simultaneous simulations in emergency department, hospital ward or other critical care settings. Currently, it has been successfully conducting lectures and courses in multi-patient pre-hospital and hospital-based training for all healthcare practitioners including students and graduates of medical education. The Center was formally inaugurated last 10 January 2011 under the patronage of H.E. Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Khusaibi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Economy and during the launching ceremony of the Center the OMSC official website(www.omsc.edu.om) was launched too.

MSC aims to create an inter-professional training environment of excellences that enable health professionals and trainees no engage in different training in technical and non-technical skills, research and innovation with the ultimate goal of decreasing medical error and improving patient care.
