The OMSB Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is committed to the integration of high academic and professional competency standards in a comprehensive curriculum of excellence.
The program provides resident education in the Academic Core Curriculum and enhanced professional development through the General Competencies for residents.
To educate the next generation of medical leaders in imaging science and its applications.
To graduate well-qualified internationally recognized Radiologists who will provide patient care as effective members of the health-care team with strong radiology interpretive skills, knowledge of appropriate diagnostic radiology tools, and cost-effective resource utilization.
To train future radiologists who will be able to provide consultative services to referring physicians and other practitioners in support of quality patient care, demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics, show a commitment to continuous education and demonstrate an awareness of the role of service to the profession and to their community.

Resident must be a holder of MD degree or Bachelors in Medicine & Surgery or equivalent from a University recognized by the OMSB.
Resident must have completed a year of internship.
Resident must be of good conduct and medically fit for the specialty.
Resident must provide three letters of recommendation from three consultants with whom he/she has worked confirming his/her ability and capability of training in Radiology.
Resident must submit a letter of approval from his/her sponsor confirming sponsorship and permission to join the OMSB Specialty Training Program on full time basis for the entire period of training.
Resident must sit the OMSB Selection Examination before being scheduled for interview.
Resident must pass the interview.

OMSB - Part I:
Time - At the end of Year 1, latest by Year 3
Subjects - Physics and Basic Radiology (Procedures, Anatomy and Emergency/Clinical Radiology)
Examination - 100 MCQ
Time - At the end of Year 4 (beginning of R5)
Subjects - All modules
Written - MCQs and Reporting Session written examination
Clinical - VIVA (in Saudi Arabia)
This is a written examination taken at the end of 1st year of Radiology Residency. It is conducted by Royal College of Radiologists, UK. This examination is held three times a year, normally in March, June and September.
These part 2A examinations are taken in 3rd and 4th year of Radiology Residency. It is made up of six (6) modules. The Part 2B can be taken at the beginning of the 5th year.
Part 1 - After 1 year of Training in the Program
Part 2 - After 4 years of Training in the Program
This is done at the end of every rotation throughout all the training years.
This is done every January annually (for R2, R3 and R4 levels).
All Residents are examined (written and images) at 6 - 8 months into the R1 year - prior to going on night call duties.
Time - At the end of Year (For R1, R2, R3, R4)
Subjects - All modules
Written - Reporting Session written examination
OSCE - for R2, R3 and R4
Oral/VIVA - for R3 and R4
The Resident’s promotion from one level to the next (e.g., from a first year to a second year of residency) is based on the cumulative average of the periodical assessment reports (please see requirements per year level below). However, a resident must have a general average of no less than 60%
Successfully completing 5 years of training,
Satisfactory evaluations,
Passing OMSB Part 1 Examination, and
Passing OMSB Part 2 Written OR FRCR Part 2A Examination, or equivalent
The Radiology Scientific Committee shall submit recommendation for completion of training to be approved by the Executive Board.OMSB “Completion of Training Certificate” requirements
Passing OMSB Part 2 Clinical Examination
However, candidates are encouraged to do FRCR Part 2B Final Examination as well, as one of the requirements to do Specialized Training for certain countries abroad.Required Examinations: not applicable
Optional Examinations: FRCR, Arab Board, English Examinations for Fellowship applications (IELTS, TOEFL, USMLE, MCCEE, etc.)
