Description:
ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. The Renewal Course requires approximately 5-6 hours, including skills practice and skills testing.
Learning Objectives:
After participating in this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize and initiate early management of periarrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
3. Recognize and manage respiratory arrest.
4. Recognize and manage cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post-cardiac arrest care.
5. Recognize and initiate early management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS), including appropriate disposition.
6. Recognize and initiate early management of stroke, including appropriate disposition.
7. Demonstrate effective communication as a member or leader of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance.

The AHA’s new BLS Course provides the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. Updated to reflect new science and education in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, this course teaches basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings, with a focus on high-quality CPR, improvement of chest compression fraction, and high-performing team dynamics.

The Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) Student Course Tenth Edition emphasizes the rapid initial assessment and primary treatment of injured patients, starting at the time of injury and continuing through initial assessment, lifesaving intervention, reevaluation, stabilization and when needed, transfer to a trauma center. The course consists of precourse and postcourse tests, core content, interactive discussions, scenario-driven skill stations, lectures, interactive case presentations, discussions, development of lifesaving skills, practical laboratory experiences, and a final performance proficiancy evaluation. Upon completing the course, participants should feel confident in implementing the skills taught in the ATLS course.

The ATLS Student Course supplies its participants with a safe and reliable method for the immediate treatment of injured patients and the basic knowledge necessary to:
- Assess a patient's condition rapidly and accurately.

The NRP course is an education program of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association which conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing, online case-based simulations, and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.
Participants study the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, or view the textbook DVD-ROM and pass the online test in the 30 days prior to attending an NRP course. Class time is used for hands-on practice and simulation/debriefing. Instructors support and evaluate individual skills, then integrate skills and knowledge with essential components of teamwork during simulated neonatal resuscitation scenarios.
The NRP Provider Course allows ample time for individualized hands-on skills development and practice with an NRP Instructor. Every attempt is made to tailor the course instruction and simulation training to fit the participant’s clinical practice.
Learning Objectives
This is a hands-on interactive course. To successfully pass the course, the learner must:
- Produce the Verification of Completion from the NRP online examination on the day of the course.
- Demonstrate neonatal skills (minimum Lessons 1 through 4 in the textbook)
