Create a broad international horizon for training Omani Physicians and Surgeons
We help Omani Physicians and Surgeons to become more qualified and skilled.
- To provide information about postgraduate programs and training requirements in different countries
- To assist Omani doctors in their application for training abroad
- To follow up the progress and evaluation reports of Omani doctors training in foreign institutions
- To coordinate with Cultural Attaches of Omani embassies in countries where Omani residents are training
- Application is open for all Omani doctors in different healthcare institutions.
- The program applied for must be clinical only.
- The program applied for must be accredited in the countries selected by the applicant for scholarships.
- Applications are only open for the following English-speaking countries (Canada, USA, New Zealand, UK, Australia and Ireland), in addition to France.
- The list of programs is available in the online application system webpage.
- All applicants, the programs and the countries applied for will be processed by the Higher National Committee for Advanced Medical Training (supervised by OMSB) in line with healthcare needs of Oman.
- Applicants are prioritized according to the list provided by their employers and according to the review of the Higher National Committee for Advanced Medical Training.
- Priority is given to the residency programs that are not available in OMSB.
- Any approval given by OMSB to the applicants will be deemed provisional. Final approval is only given after the Committee reviews the offer along with the curriculum of the program that the applicant will receive from abroad. The final approval is also subject to the availability of funds.
- The applicant should obtain the language test score as required by the university/country of interest. The language test certificate can be provided later upon receiving the provisional approval from OMSB.

- Internship Certificate
- Three recommendation letters by Consultants (not older than 18 months)
- International Exams and Qualification Certificates, if available
- Valid IELTS or OET, if required by the institution.
- Passport copy
Application for residency abroad must take place during or after completion of Internship.

- International Exams (depending on the country you are applying to)

The applicant must have completed a residency program and obtained "Completion of Training Certificate" and "Specialty Certificate" from Oman Medical Specialty Board or equivalent in addition to the following:
- Updated CV
- Updated Personal Statement
- MD and Bachelor’s Certificates (Arabic and English) and Transcripts
- Internship Certificate
- Three recommendation letters by Consultants (not older than 18 months)
- International Exams and Qualification Certificates, if available
- Valid IELTS or OET, if required by the institution.

CANADA
Specific Requirements:
MCCEE/MCCQE1 for all Residency Programs
MCCEE/MCCQE1 for Subspecialty Program applications in the following universities: Manitoba and Dalhousie
IELTS with a score of at least 7.0 in each component for the following universities: Alberta, British Columbia, Calgary, and Manitoba
OET with a score of at least B in all components is now accepted in British Columbia, Dalhousie, and Manitoba.

FRANCE
Requirements:
1. The applicant must be an Omani.
2. The application must be a medical doctor.
3. The application must be less than 33 years old.
Applicants for residency training in France must apply through the Embassy of France in Muscat. Details can be found on https://om.ambafrance.org/-French-Omani-cooperation-. The opening of applications is announced annually at the beginning of each year on the website. The application period is from January to March each year.
