The Verification & Equivalence of Health Professional Certificates section was established at the beginning of the Year 2012 according to the Royal Decree No. 93/2011 amending the Royal Decree No. 31/2006. The New amendments entitled OMSB to evaluate and equalize all Health Professional Certificates. OMSB has signed a service contract with DATAFLOW institution, an internationally accredited company in verifying certificates, on April 11, 2012. The DATAFLOW provides OMSB with verification reports for Health Professional Certificates. This service has positively influenced the quality of the work at the section, as verification is essential to ensure the validity of certificates and institutions. A national Committee was formed with 16 members representing all health services providers in the Sultanate. The committee meets regularly to assess and evaluate all received certificates, provide recommendations regarding each case. Upon verification, the national committee then evaluates and determines the equivalency level of all professional health certificates according to the bylaw of verification & equivalence of health professional certificates (9-2019). In 2013, The National Committee created a bylaw which defined articles and equivalency level of the most common certificates around the world. The bylaw was updated several times and in 2018, a sub-committee was formed to review, amend and develop the certificates' equivalency bylaw to better align with the international standards in this regard. The updated bylaw was approved in 2019 and shared with all healthcare institutions in Oman. The section works closely with the MOH, SQUH, ROPH, AFH, Diwan of Royal Court and other healthcare institutions in the Sultanate in this regard, as the certificates equivalency and verification is compulsory for those working in both public and private health sectors.
