To provide General Dental Practitioners with advanced training that allows them to deliver high quality, comprehensive general dental care. The training will allow the graduates to integrate all phases of dentistry in a manner suitable for achieving high levels of proficiency, safety and high clinical standards.

To be recognized nationally and internationally as a program providing advanced training in the field of General Dentistry that meets the expectations of the dental profession, patients and the community at large.

1. Enhance residents’ clinical abilities in all the disciplines of General Dentistry.
2. Teach residents to deliver comprehensive and continuous oral health care for their patients.
3. Improve residents’ approach to treatment planning through optimal interaction with all health care professionals caring for the patient.
4. Train residents to formulate a treatment plan that responds to the relevant medical, dental, and psychosocial needs of the patient.
5. Improve residents’ competencies with clinical cases that require advance treatment modalities.
6. Enhance residents’ clinical judgment through continuous case discussions and clinical practice.
7. Teach residents critical appraisal skills and how to apply research evidence in daily practice.
8. Educate residents the basic principles of research methodology, biostatistics, and data analysis, in order to ensure that they complete a meaningful research project, which is of publishable quality.
9. Provide residents with a wide range of opportunities to develop their communication skills, working in a team environment and improve their skills in time management.
10. Promote residents’ knowledge and experience in dental practice management, quality assurance, and in dental jurisprudence, ethics, and risk management.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC ADMISSION CRITERIA

In addition to the OMSB general admission criteria, residents are expected to:

1. Be a holder of BDS degree or equivalent from a university recognized by the OMSB. 

2. Have a minimum of 24 months of clinical experience. 
3. Have completed the MFDS exam or equivalent. 
4. Pass an interview.
