Occupational Classification Testing Section

Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) has officially inaugurated Testing Centers specialized in delivering Occupational Classification (OC) examinations in the Sultanate. These centers deliver a total of 36 medical OC examinations and other non-medical examinations. The computer-based OC examinations help to ensure that OMSB medical standards are being met by candidates seeking to practice and deliver healthcare services in Oman.

The Ministry of Health and other governmental and private institutions use OMSB Occupational Classification examinations for licensing purposes. Therefore, to be able to work for the MOH and other Health Institutions, the candidates must sit the OMSB OC examinations. All OMSB examinations are available at Pearson VUE and Prometric centers or affiliated centers worldwide. The Pearson VUE centers deliver OC local examinations such as Omani Examination for Nurses. Whereas Prometric centers deliver other OC examinations and international examinations such as the American Board Exam, USMLE, MCCEE, PMP, GRE, IFOM, CISI, HRCI, TOEFL, etc.

To ensure that the quality of healthcare being provided is aligned with the Sultanate's National Health System 2020 policy and health vision 2050.

To improve healthcare by providing valid, reliable medical examinations comply with international examination standards.

- To maintain the validity, integrity, and credibility of the licensure examinations in a highly secured environment.
- To assess the competencies of healthcare professionals to practice in Oman.

- To ensure that only healthcare professionals who complied and met the requirements are permitted to practice their professions in the Sultanate.

- To ensure the provision of a conducive and responsive environment to meet customers’ satisfaction.

- To monitor and evaluate the adherence to the standards and regulations in developing and delivering occupational classification examinations.
